Injuries changed how I train—but they didn’t stop me.
I created Stay Strong Physical Therapy for active women like you—because I’ve been where you are. The setbacks. The frustration. The fight to stay strong when your body feels like it’s working against you.

Fitness has always been my foundation
I started working out at 13—long before I became a physical therapist. In those early days, when I couldn’t afford a gym membership, I ran and did walking lunges on the sidewalk. As soon as I could, I joined LA Fitness and fell in love with step classes (it was the ’90s, after all). Back then, it was all about cardio—and I was hooked. Exercise gave me confidence. It helped me feel like myself.
That passion never faded, even when my body had other plans.
A diagnosis that changed everything
In college, I started experiencing troubling symptoms—fatigue, hair loss, joint pain, nausea. It took years to figure out what was happening, but at 24, I was diagnosed with lupus.
I was devastated—but determined. I worked closely with a functional medicine doctor, revamped my diet, added supplements like turmeric and fish oil, prioritized sleep, hydration, and stress management. Slowly but surely, my body responded. By my early 30s, I was off all medications. I had my energy back. I had hope.
And I returned to the gym, this time even more grateful to move.

Injury, recovery, and a new perspective
In 2012, I tore my ACL and meniscus during a co-ed soccer game. The first surgery failed—my body rejected the graft—and I had to go through it all again. Recovery was grueling, both physically and emotionally.
That injury changed how I trained. I knew I had to think long-term. I shifted my focus from pounding pavement to building strength. It wasn’t just about being fit—it was about being functional.
Over time, I found my rhythm again. I joined REC Shop Training Facility in Chino, CA and immediately felt at home. The trainers got me. The strength training program worked. And honestly, my knee feels stronger now than it ever did before.
I know what it’s like to start over
I know how discouraging injuries can be. When you can’t move the way you want, it affects everything—your energy, your confidence, your mood. For me, exercise is how I manage anxiety. It’s how I stay grounded.
That’s why I started Stay Strong Physical Therapy. To help women like you—women who love to move, but feel stuck in a cycle of injury and frustration—find a better way forward.
Whether you're dealing with chronic illness, lingering pain, or an injury that just won’t go away, you don’t have to figure it out alone. I’ll meet you where you are, and we’ll build a plan that works with your body, not against it.

Supporting women in midlife
Lately, I’ve also been learning more about how perimenopause affects women’s bodies—how strength, recovery, and pain all shift in ways we don’t always expect. It’s a conversation that doesn’t happen enough. And it’s one I’m ready to have with you.
Because the truth is, fitness in midlife is different—but it can be just as powerful.
